【摘要】:Whencoatingsareappliedtolargeflatsurfacessuchaswalls,thefilmthicknessmayvaryortheremaybesmallareasmissedentirely(holidays)whenthecolorofthefreshmaterialandthepreviousfilmareverysimilar.Itismuchlesscostlyiftheseareascanbetouchedupinsteadofhavingtorepainttheentiresurface.Thicknessisalsoaffectedinthelocationswhereanareacoatedashorttimebeforeisjoinedwiththeareacurrentlybeingcoated(laps).Anapplicationtechniquethatmayaffectthefinalappearanceofthefilmisbrushingorrollingthematerialindifferentdirectionsinadjacentareas.Bothbuyersandsellersareinterestedindeterminingwhetheracoatingcanbeappliedwithoutexhibitingareasthatdifferinappearancebecauseoflapsandbrushorrollermarks,andwhetheritcanbereadilytoucheduptoprovideauniformappearanceinregardtoglossorsheenandallotheraspects.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheuniformityofglossorsheenofapaintappliedbybrushtoatestpanelsimulatinganinteriorwallsection.Variationsinglossorsheenthatmaybecausedbyshortwetedgetime,poorleveling,andpigmentorientationorflotationduringandafterapplicationareevaluatedvisually.1.2Becauseboththeapplicationandthepanelevaluationareverysubjective,thistestmethodshouldbeusedonlyforcomparativetestingwithinonelaboratoryastheratingsassignedbydifferentlaboratoriesdonotusuallyagree(see8.1).1.3ThevaluesgiveninSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
